The game's defining feature was its aggressive combat mechanics, allowing players to punch, kick, and use weapons such as chains and clubs to attack opponents. The objective was not only to win races but also to knock opponents off their bikes and hinder their progress. Road Rash offered both single-player and multiplayer modes. In single-player mode, players would progress through a series of races, earning money for winning and using it to upgrade their bikes or buy better equipment. Multiplayer mode allowed players to compete against each other in split-screen or network play.

The Road Rash series gained a dedicated following due to its unique combination of racing and combat elements. It spawned several sequels, including Road Rash II, Road Rash 3, and Road Rash: Jailbreak. However, the series has not seen a new release in recent years, and the last installment, Road Rash: Jailbreak, was released in 2000. While there hasn't been any news about a new Road Rash game as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, it's always possible that a new installment or a remastered version may be announced in the future.
